A steady climb through wheat fields to the windy Alto del Perdón, then a loose, stony descent into the Valdizarbe valley.
Practical tips
The rocky descent from the Alto del Perdón is steep and causes frequent falls: go slowly. Strong wind is common at the top. The Eunate detour adds 3.2 km.
Along the way

Alto del Perdón
Beneath the wind turbines stands a row of iron pilgrim silhouettes. The inscription reads 'where the way of the wind crosses the way of the stars'.

Santa María de Eunate
A detour leads to a mysterious octagonal Romanesque church in the middle of the fields, often linked to the Templars.

Puente la Reina
Named after its six-arched Romanesque bridge, paid for by a queen of Navarra in the 11th century so pilgrims could cross the Arga. Here the Camino Aragonés joins the Francés.
