Practical tips
Much of the stage runs near roads and motorway junctions. There is a pilgrim information point with first aid in Puente Castro. A signposted detour visits the Sandoval monastery (+5.5 km).

León Cathedral
Nicknamed 'Pulchra Leonina', it has about 1,800 m² of medieval stained glass, one of the largest collections in the world.

San Isidoro and Casa Botines
The Royal Pantheon of San Isidoro is called the 'Sistine Chapel of Romanesque' for its 12th-century frescoes. Casa Botines is one of Gaudí's few buildings outside Catalonia, and the old pilgrim hospital of San Marcos is now a parador.
