Camino Inglés from A Coruña: Complete Stage-by-Stage Guide

The Camino Inglés (English Way) is the shortest officially recognised route to Santiago, and it has two very different starting points depending on whether you want the Compostela certificate.

Ferrol vs. A Coruña

From Ferrol the route is about 118 km, comfortably over the 100 km minimum required for the Compostela. From A Coruña it is only around 73-75 km, which on its own falls short of that minimum — something many walkers don't realise until they arrive.

Stage by stage from A Coruña

Stage 1: A Coruña to Hospital de Bruma (about 27 km) — a long, demanding first day through eucalyptus forest and rolling farmland; many split it by stopping earlier in Sigueiro or a private albergue along the way.

Stage 2: Hospital de Bruma to Sigüeiro (about 17 km) — gentler terrain, several small villages with bars for refreshment.

Stage 3: Sigüeiro to Santiago de Compostela (about 16 km) — mostly flat, finishing with the unmistakable thrill of the cathedral spires.

Getting the Compostela anyway

Walkers starting in A Coruña can still qualify by combining it with a recognised "Celtic Camino" sea crossing from Ireland, Scotland or Wales, or simply by starting a few kilometres earlier, such as from Mesoiro, to push the total past 100 km.

Why choose it

It's ideal for travellers with 4-5 days rather than five weeks, it's far less crowded than the Francés, and it runs entirely through Galicia's green, misty countryside.
