Practical tips
No roadside restaurants between Gijón and Tabaza. The approach to Avilés passes motorways and steelworks; the riverside detour is nicer. Fountain at Santa Eulalia (Carreño).
Along the way

Monte Areo
A hill with prehistoric burial mounds, the main climb of the day.
